Poole Harbour tide tracker
High water, low water and direction of travel
The tracker uses a broad-area estimate for the rise and fall of Poole Bay. Narrow entrance-flow strength is identified separately and is never inferred from that broad model.
A starting point—not a chart plotter
Keep the latest Poole weather close to authorised tide predictions, planned shipping movements, local notices and harbour guidance. Always verify operational information with the official source.

Harbour traffic
The site is ready for a local live vessel map, but it will only embed an approved feed. Until then, official planned movements and a reputable live-map link are more honest than an unauthorised scrape.
AIS integration prepared
A VesselFinder partner station, licensed AIS provider or a future Dorset Live Weather receiver can power this area without breaching somebody else’s terms.
Official planning links
Published tide times, local gauge links, wave resources and the official reminder that skippers remain responsible for checking accuracy.
Open sourceExpected harbour movements can change at short notice. PHC directs harbour users to monitor VHF Channel 14 for relevant broadcasts.
View movementsTemporary and standing notices contain operational information that a weather site cannot replace.
View noticesA sensible data boundary
Dorset Live Weather owns the processing layer for the Poole weather pool. It can publish quality-checked local observations and stored history with clear timestamps and source health.
The UK Hydrographic Office offers a Tidal API with subscription options for applications. Poole Harbour Commissioners also publish local tide information and links. The production site should connect one authorised source through a server-side adapter, cache it responsibly and retain the provider’s required attribution.
AIS map services have their own licensing terms. One practical route is to operate a local receiver and join a provider’s station-partner programme, which can include an embeddable local map. Until that agreement exists, this page links out rather than cloning live vessel positions.
No score, pool observation, tide card or AIS display on this site should be treated as a navigational or emergency service. Use official warnings, charts, harbour broadcasts and appropriate equipment.
